Vishnu Mishra

Vishnu Mishra hails from a traditional family of musicians of the Benares gharana; he is the son of the reputed tabla exponent Pandit Vijaykumar Mishra, and the grandson of the widely-respected Guru Pandit Damodar Mishra. Having trained under his uncle Late Pandit Sohan lal Mishra as well as Pandit Mohanlal Mishra, doyens of classical music, Vishnu has very easily adapted the unique blend and style of Benarasi gayaki in his khayal, dadra,thumri, chaiti, kajri, hori and bhajan-rendering techniques.

He is gifted with a mellifluous voice and an uncanny command over the octaves. Vishnu finished his Master’s degree in music studies from the coveted Benares Hindu University with a first class and has been deemed with several distinguished awards and titles. He has performed across venues and festivals in India and on television and has been featured as a promising vocalist of the Benares gharana by History Channel 18.
