Dholak Rani
Dholak Rani, led by vocalist Shivangini Yeashu Yuvraj, celebrates the rich multilingual folk traditions of North India’s Ganga-Jamuna belt through performance, research, and workshops. Featuring songs in Awadhi, Kannauji, Bhojpuri, Bundeli, Braj Bhasha, and Banarasi boli, the project reimagines traditional sounds in a contemporary idiom.
For the Mahindra Kabira Festival, Dholak Rani’s Kabir the Julaha: Verses from the Loom brings together song and story — with Isha Priya Singh as storyteller. This music and storytelling journey seeks Kabir as a weaver of both cloth and verse. Through songs and stories, the performance invites you to imagine Kabir not just as a mystic poet, but as a working artisan — on whose loom every thread was a question, and every weave, an answer. The ensemble features Ishan Sharma (tabla & dholak), Lalit Sisodia (harmonium), and Siddharth (saxophone).
