Deobrat Mishra
Deobrat Mishra is a sitarist, surbahar player, and music composer, celebrated as an exponent of the Benares Gharana school of Hindustani classical music. The son of Padma Shri Pandit Shivnath Mishra, he combines Banarasi thumri on sitar with Dhrupad and Khayal singing, creating a distinctive sound. Since 1994, he has toured Europe with his father and received several awards, including the Sur Mani award in 2000. Mishra co-founded the Academy of Indian Classical Music in 1999 and has worked with international ensembles. His accolades include the Best German Critics Award, the Visionary Award for World Music, and a Grammy Award consideration in 2022.
