About the Performance
Dastan-e-Kabir is a dastangoi presentation that explores the life, philosophy, and poetry of the saint-poet Kabir. Through folk anecdotes and his poetry, the dastan seeks to uncover Kabir's character, spirituality, and critical insights on societal and religious issues. This storytelling art form offers a profound understanding of Kabir's enduring legacy.
Himanshu Bajpai is a leading Dastango in India, with over 300 performances across countries such as Singapore, the UAE, and Turkey. Honoured by the President of India, he showcased his talent at Harvard University during Worldwide Week and appeared in Sacred Games Season 2 on Netflix. His bestselling book, Qissa Qissa Lucknowa, earned him the Sahitya Akademi Yuva Puraskar and the H.K. Trivedi Smriti Yuva Puraskar. He has a PhD on the Naval Kishore Press from Mahatma Gandhi Antarrashtriya Hindi Vishwavidyalaya and is known for his writings on Lucknow’s culture and heritage walks.
Pragya Sharma has performed over 100 shows across India and abroad, with her premiere dastangoi, Qissa Jhansi ki Rani ka, created in collaboration with Himanshu Bajpai. She has participated in initiatives promoting women's empowerment through storytelling, including projects for the UP Police under the Mission Shakti Abhiyan. Sharma’s performances often address environmental issues, such as a unique dastan on the Ganga aimed at raising pollution awareness and promoting dignity for the river. She holds a PhD in Economics focused on groundwater sustainability in Indian agriculture and has published extensively on environmental topics.
