India is a land of saints, each professing their idea of Bhakti or devotion. This act will present the songs of our great saints such as Nanak, Kabir, Meera, Swati Tirunal and Tulsidas in an unusual format.


 
About the group ‘Conversations’
 
“Conversations” is the brainchild of classically trained musician Rama Sundar Ranganathan, who presents music based on eclectic and relevant themes. As part of “Conversations”, Rama has performed The Music of Charkha – a musical interpretation of Gandhian philosophy, Songs that are Abhang - the bold poetry of women saints and The Colours of Bhakti-Water/Ice at different festivals. As her music unfolds, conversation is at many levels – with the subject matter, poetry, philosophy, audience and amongst the musicians on stage. For this presentation, she is joined by ace tabla player Akhtar Hasan, Sarangi maestro Bharat Bhushan Goswami , Flute maestro Atul Shankar and Nitin Vaidya as moderator.

More About Rama Sundar Ranganathan

Rama Sundar Ranganathan 
Rama is a Hindustani classical vocalist of the Indore Gharana. She is a shagird of Pt. Tejpal Singh ji and late Shanti Sharma ji. Rama is an All India Radio A grade artist and has sung at renowned festivals hosted by HCL, Spic Macay, Kalashree foundation, Swaranjali, Gunijan Sabha, Seher, IGNCA and many more. She has also collaborated with European sound engineers to record a meditative piece called ‘With Love, From India’ for the website mynoise.net. Rama is a research scholar under the guidance of Padma Vibhushan Dr. L Subramaniam ,researching on Bhakti saints of India.
 
Ustad Akhtar Hasan  
Ustad Akhtar Hasan belongs to the Farukkhabad Gharana, having trained with his father, the late Ustad Mehdi Hussain Khan.He is a top-grade All India Radio artist and has performed at all major prestigious festivals in the country. He is amongst the most sought-after tabla players of Delhi.
 
Pt Bharat Bhushan Goswami  
Pt Bharat Bhushan Goswami is the grandson of Pt. Anmol Chand Goswami and has learnt the sarangi from Pandit Hanuman Prasad Mishra of the Benares Gharana. He has served All India Radio for over 30 years and is a top-graded artist.
